The hands behind Fasilah

Every Fasilah piece begins with a pair of hands.

Hands that cut fabric.

Hands that sew.

Hands that embroider.

Hands lifted in duaa.

A skill worth paying for.

They have a skill worth paying for.

You have something you need.

Fasilah connects the two.

Hands of Fasilah

Made by Muslim artisans.
Paid for their skill.

You pay for their work.

They earn from their craft.

A livelihood grows.

One small part of what we’re building for our Ummah.

Where it began

It started with a phone call.

October 2023. “Can we really do this?”

“Even if we fail, it would be a good deed.”

A family living across different continents, wondering what we could build together that might benefit people. We weren’t asking what we could sell. We were asking what we could do.

Hand Embroidery - Fasilah

A man, an axe, a livelihood

He wasn’t given a livelihood.
He was given the means to create one.

A man came to the Prophet ﷺ asking for help. The Prophet ﷺ sold some of his belongings and bought him an axe, then told him to gather firewood and sell it. The man came back later, having earned for himself.

This is what we’re building for our Ummah.

We believe the Ummah has immense skill, creativity and potential. Sometimes lifting one another up means creating opportunities to earn. This is one small part of the future we’re trying to build.

Fasilah is the word for a seedling, from a saying of the Prophet ﷺ about a believer who keeps planting even at the end of times.
